Halloweenie & Trick-or-Treating

Jack dressed up as Spike for his first real halloween
Bryce, Jack, Sloane & Taylor

It must be said that Halloween was quite a success! Jack was really excited to show off his Spike costume even though it was very warm for Halloween! We had planned to take Jack to our church festival the day before Halloween but, the festival fell right around nap time. We figured that since Jack probably wouldn't really understand much of the festival it probably wasn't worth skipping a nap. So, we opted to check out the Halloweenie festival closer by. It was a Halloween festival for dogs basically. There were kids and dogs in costume, a dog jumping contest, hay rides etc. We went for a little while and Jack was really excited about the dogs and loved that they were dressed up! He pointed to every doggie and squealed! We hit the tail end of the dog jumping contest and that was pretty cool. We walked around and Jack looked at all the dogs then we headed out to grab a bite to eat. I realized that we were going trick-or-treating the next night while we were eating and Jack didn't have anything to hold his candy! So, we were off to target. We found several cute candy carriers but, Jack was in love with the $1 pumpkin:) He was in love! Jack carried the pumpkin around the house all evening to practice and was sooo excited! We went trick-or-treating on Halloween night with Jack's cousins-Bryce, Sloane and Taylor. The girls are so sweet to Jack and he loves them. Jack wasn't really sure about trick-or-treating. He didn't really want to ride in the wagon and being a newbie walker, wasn't really up for that either so Bess and I did a lot of carrying our little Spike. He was excited after about the second house when he realized he could reach out and get candy. I was a little paranoid since we had just recently found out that Jack's allergic to peanuts. Think about Halloween...almost every candy is made with either peanuts or peanut butter. Awesome. So I was freaked thinking he'd bite through a wrapper or something. Jack had a great time though, stayed up late and I think did pretty great for his first Trick-or-treating experience. I can only imagine what next year will be like!
